By engaging the community, encouraging participation, and facilitating access to the arts, the city works with local artists and arts organizations to build a vibrant community for all citys residents, businesses, and visitors.

Enjoy family programming on Mondays, beginning on the second Monday in September.
Funday Monday is open to children of all ages; however, those who haven’t yet started school are particularly encouraged to attend. There will be music, movement, storytelling, performances, crafts, and more.
All performances and programs begin at 10:30 a.m. and — unless otherwise noted — are held at Old Town Hall, 3999 University Drive, Fairfax. You can find ample parking in Old Town Fairfax, and stroller access is available at the rear of Old Town Hall (on Route 236/Main Street).

KNIT AND CROCHET FOR THOSE IN NEED

We are seeking individuals of all ages to fabricate scarves for the homeless community in the Washington metropolitan area. Prior to distribution, the scarves will appear online on the Commission of the Arts Facebook page.

Unless otherwise noted, all performance take place at Old Town Hall, 3999 University Drive, Fairfax VA 22030. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. — please arrive early, as there are no booked tickets, and seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tom Teasley & Chao Tian: Dong Xi November 20th at 8pm - Online Award winning world percussion fusing American jazz, world music, and funk converses with spellbinding virtuosity and Chinese folk melodies.

A Cathedral Brass Christmas 2020 December 11 at 8pm - Online
The Cathedral Brass will celebrate Christmas with a musical journey that explores the many facets of this beloved holiday.
Featured works include Anthony DiLorenzo's Fum Fum Fum, Vince Guaraldi's O Tannenbaum (from the television special “A Charlie Brown Christmas”), and LeRoy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival, jazz settings of traditional Christmas carols, including Go Tell It on the Mountain, Little Drummer Boy, and Greensleeves, and other holiday favorites. The concert features Roger Rossi, former trumpet soloist for the Army Blues, and the Cathedral Brass trombone section.
